What to put in your Instagram link in bio

Your bio link gets tapped by people who already liked a post or a reel and want the next step. Most link pages waste that tap with ten links of equal weight. This guide shows what to put there and in what order, with examples by trade.

Decide what the link is for

Before you add anything, finish this sentence: "Someone who taps my bio link should..." For most sellers the answer is one of three things: buy something, book something, or message me. Everything on the page should help with that one thing first.

If you have no answer yet, the answer is "message me". A WhatsApp button at the top is better than a long list of links.

Put things in this order

  1. The thing that earns. Your best selling product, your booking calendar or your order button. One item, at the top.
  2. The thing people ask about most. If the same question comes up in your DMs every week, put the answer here: a price list, a menu, a free guide.
  3. A way to reach you. WhatsApp for most Indian buyers, or email for brands and companies.
  4. Everything else. YouTube, your other accounts, a past collaboration. These go last and can sit as small icons under your name.

Four to six items is enough for most pages. If you need more than eight, group them under a header, such as "Courses" or "Free resources".

Write labels people understand

A button label should say what happens when someone taps it. Put the price on paid items so nobody taps through only to be surprised.

Common mistakes

  • Links to your own Instagram. The visitor is already there.
  • Old offers. A Diwali sale in March tells people the page is not looked after. Remove it, or on Pro set it to end on its own with Schedule.
  • No prices. Many people will not message to ask. Show the price or a starting price.
  • A link that needs a login, such as a private Google Drive file. Open it in a private window to check.
  • A bio that does not mention the link. Say what is there: "Goa plan and trip calls below" works better than "Links below".

Check it every month

Open your page on your phone once a month and tap every button. Look at which items people tap. On Tapyoka, Stats shows views and clicks for each block, so you can move the ones nobody taps lower down or remove them.

To set up a page from scratch, follow Set up your page. Your Instagram handle can also be your link: see Connect your Instagram handle.
