When tips work
Tips work best when you give something useful for free on a regular schedule: weekly tutorials, daily recipes, a free tool or a long guide. People tip after they have used what you gave them, not before.
Add a Pay or tip block
- Open Page and choose Pay or tip.
- Set the Button text, for example "Buy me a coffee".
- Under How much people pay, choose Pay what you want. Set a Lowest amount in rupees if you want one; empty means ₹1.
- Add up to 3 Suggested amounts, such as ₹49, ₹99 and ₹199.
- Tick Let people add a message.
- Write a Thank-you note (optional). It is shown after they pay and sent with their receipt.
- Save and press Publish changes.
For a fixed amount, such as a ₹99 "chai for the team", choose A fixed amount instead. Amounts go from ₹1 to ₹1,00,000.
Supporters pay your UPI ID directly. The tip shows in Orders like any sale, and you confirm it with Mark as paid once the money arrives. Their name and message come with it. See Mark a payment as paid.
How to ask
- Mention it once at the end of a useful post, not in every story.
- Say what tips pay for: "Tips pay for the ingredients I test with."
- Thank tippers by first name in a story, if they agree.
- Never promise anything in return for a tip. If there is a reward, it is a product, not a tip.
Tax
Tips are income. Check with a CA about how to report them.
